I am sat here at my desk and I have just remembered that I was up at 1am this morning banging around in the dark trying to find a cup for some water to appease a screaming child. Isn't it funny what the brain decides to forget as useless pish. This little episode certainly counts. It is also pretty cool what the human body is able to do while otherwise pretty much asleep. In this case, get up, go down to the kitchen and get a cup of water, return to child's room, pick up 2 year old and take to mummy and daddy's bed for a calming drink, return 2 year old to bed and return to sweet sweet slumber.
In other news. The kitchen floor is finished * and I have a poker night tonight. Total unknown. £20 buy-in. 25-30 runners probably. We'll see. Haven't played live poker in a long time. I live in a world where the blinds go up every 3 minutes so a live (and deep stacked) tourney where they go up every 20 minutes might take a little adjusting to. I have my wingman going with me tonight and I also know one of the other runners as the manager of the Top Q snooker/pool/poker room here in Gloucester.
Need a holiday. Always need a holiday. Really looking forward to taking legs away for our 6th anniversay. 6 years. Wowza!
That's it. NGTFOOMO.
* Finished is a fluid term. Legs and I are really good at getting jobs to a 90% finished stage and claiming victory. TBC...

I read a load of blogs each and every day and I keep some posts that I like... Like thousands of other office people I read the Dilbert every day too. Here are some that have tickled me over the past few months...

So there is nothing like a long long long weekend apart from your family to let you know what you have and what you love. Friday morning. Nearly 5 whole days ago I said goodbye to Legs. She jetted off to Milan on a girly weekend and I was left to tend to the DIY.
Friday afternoon I picked Alfie up from Nursery and after a normal evening I found myself still awake and pissing about on-line until after 1am.
This, as I now know, was the first of 3 nights in a row that ended in the smalls.
On Saturday I dropped Alfie at Legs mum and dad and set about preparing the house for the DIY. This included tidying it from top to toe and clearing everything out of the hall/stairs and landing where the brunt of the work was to take place..
Whiled away a few hours playing poker in the afternoon and was joined later on by Mr T. About 7.30 we picked up The Ryder and headed off to the Outcast Band. Quality gig although damn quiet! I think most people were either watching the Eurovision or simply didn't know it was happening. The bar, 'Marrs's bar', is kind of tucked down a side road so passing trade was never going to happen. Anyway, the 20 odd of us enjoyed the music muchly and come 11:30ish the set was over and our little trio headed back into Gloucester to find a dance floor! Found a load of other peeps we knew in Liquid so stayed and danced there. Note to self: Try not to look so stunned next time you buy 6 bottles of kiddie alcopop and the barmaid says £24.60 please....!!! Anyway, we left at 3ish and a nice portion of chips later Paul and I headed back to mine. Sleep came about 4:30 and that is fine.... until.....
7:30am. The alarm goes off. I need to shake a leg. Mr T and I struggle through a coffee or two and head out the door about 8:30 to go and get my car from town. Was back before 9 and once I had given myself a slap for staying out too late I started sanding.... There is a long long side story to the whole DIY escapade. If you are a friend of mine on facebook then you will have seen the pictures of the progress so you know it ends well. With Legs dad here to help too we worked tirelessly all day bar a 30 minute break for a "footlong" Italian BMT (LUSH!) stopping about 8pm. That's right. 11 hours solid hard labour following the previous long night out. Only a fool would go out again!!!?
So. I hop onto facebook to check on peoples days and I see there is a group of peeps from work going to town. I look around my empty house... I listen to the deafening silence... I shower. I head out. This was to be a quiet one. A few drinks in The Regal to top off a good days DIY. I had to stay reasonable as I still had the gloss painting to do the next day (Monday for the record). Anyway. The dancing started... the music played loud... The Gaga.... The Tinie Tempah... 1am came along and the door staff started ushering us all out... "Why don't we go to Fever?" a chirpy 20 something workmate suggested. Now, of course, I was on redbull. Well 'Monster' - with a dash of vodka - so I was feeling ok somehow. Why not! 3am I got home... but not before phoning my sleeping wife sometime around 1:30. I blame my dancing! LOL. Must find a better way to lock that phone....
The insult to this injury is that I have a brutal body clock. I was up at 6:30. 6:30!!!! I poured myself under a shower and looked at myself in the mirror. I had gloss to paint and come mid afternoon my parents in law would be dropping my bouncing, beaming baby boy back in my arms and running for the hills....
OK. Slap Slap Slap!!! Long (boring) story short. The painting took 4 hours and my rating out of 10 stayed around "f'ing ropy" pretty much all day.
But the story doesn't end there. Aside from the house and the DIY I also had business commitments as a web designer to uphold. So the evening post Alfie was spent trying to smash grey cells together and make a website work.
I did get a reasonable night though. 7 hours. Anyone with a small child will know that is pretty good...
So here I am. Jaded. Transpires I was tired (no shit) and dehydrated so I necked two pints of water and just grabbed another hour and a bit during Alfie's nap. I really should go wake him... It's 1pm now. Legs should walk through that door in 5 or so hours. I have missed her sooo much. I can look back and know that I have had a solid weekend. I have done things I can't normally do when they are here. I now know that I really can't do them anyway without at least 2 days post process to recover! LOL!
The cat was away. I played. I played hard. Now I want my cat back!

Ok. $6 in the account. That is 3 shots at a win. I will be playing $1.80 + 0.20 SnG Satellites up to 2 at a time and I have 2-3 hours earmarked for the grind. Each table normally takes somewhere around 30-45 mins to finished so there is a potential to bust or move into the teens in 'roll. I will report back later to let you know how it goes. Grinding is a bitch but, as before, the 'roll is low and I don't want to buy back into FTP again just yet.

Things are getting exciting in our house. For a long time now we have been saving our pennies and over the next month or two the house is getting a little lift. 4 main areas are going to be covered.
1. Hall floor will become solid wood.
2. Kitchen floor will become tile.
3. Our bedroom will finally be stripped back, painted and a new wardrobe will be introduced.
4. Our spare bedroom will have a wardrobe built into the alcoves.
We may even get the kitchen and spare room ceilings re-skimmed as they are both showing serious signs of wear.
Either way, come the now traditional June party there should be some more DIY to feast your eyes upon.

I now have Chained payments working through the paypal API which was the final hurdle in making http://mydrivespace.co.uk a reality.
Now I just have to code out the other stuff like reservations/confirmations/email templates/small print/disclaimers/etc and then I can look to roll this baby out...
